I used to have what they call Arachnophobia. My husband suffers from Ophidiophobia (fear of snakes). My oldest daughter has Apiphobia (fear of bees).
Who would have expected there were so many phobias? The list I looked at from Oxford Dictionaries has over 200 phobias on it, from Aerophobis (fear of air travel), to Graphobia (fear of writing). I suppose that in and of itself is not all that surprising really.
What was surprising was learning what some of them were.....

I said I used to have Arachnophobia because I have had to deal with so many spiders that I have gotten used to it. Besides, what's not to love about the Black Widow Spider?
